Jazz Opera – A Tribute to Claude Bolling
On June 13, the elegance of opera meets the freedom of jazz
When the elegance of opera meets the freedom of jazz
On June 13, the elegance of opera meets the freedom of jazz in an exceptional concert featuring four soloists from the Paris National Opera Orchestra. This original project was inspired by Claude Bolling’s famous Suite for Cello and Jazz Trio, an iconic work that skillfully blends classical composition with jazz improvisation.
A legendary work
Cellist René Benedetti worked on this piece directly with Claude Bolling before Bolling recorded it with the legendary Yo-Yo Ma.
Following a collaboration with drummer Guy-Joël Cipriani, the idea was born to bring together several soloists from the Paris National Opera to create an ensemble capable of fostering a dialogue between two musical worlds:
👉 the classical tradition
👉 the energy of jazz
Jazz Opera: Four Exceptional Musicians
Hailing fromthe Paris National Opera Orchestra, these musicians perform at the highest level of the classical music scene while exploring other musical worlds.
- René Benedetti: cello, at the heart of the project and the dialogue with Claude Bolling
- Jean-Yves Sebillotte: piano, bridging classical composition and jazz improvisation
- Sylvain Le Provost: double bass, with a deep and elegant tone
- Guy-Joël Cipriani: drums, energy, and musical expression
A close-knit quartet in which attentiveness, precision, and the joy of playing together are at the heart of every performance.
The location: Figuière
Located in La Londe-les-Maures, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Provençal hills, the Domaine Figuière is a truly exceptional place.
We are delighted and proud to host this Jazz Opera concert on our estate.
This event is fully in line with our commitment to fostering a dialogue between wine and the arts, and to opening Figuière to cultural experiences where music, like wine, expresses the character of a terroir and the work of artists.
Set against this exceptional natural backdrop, amid vineyards and Mediterranean light, the concert takes on a special quality, blending musical emotion with the Provençal art of living.
An ideal setting for a concert that blends music, nature, and the Provençal way of life.
